When on Connie in Spring, John Grantham had just joined Celebrity for first stint as CD. We thought he was excellent. Was ex Hollywood stuntman and gave lectures, about movies tv work that he had been in. Superb!
Anyone know if he is still with X.

I was delighted to see the photo of Togi. We were on a 14 night Baltic cruise onboard Constellation in July and spent part of every evening in the Martini Bar. Togi is an exceptional young man, one of the most personable staff members I've met in all my past 14 cruises. We are so looking forward to seeing him again when we sail on the Solstice in March.

Also please note that in the original thread it questions whether the F&B Manager onboard the Celebrity Galaxy is Cory. As of August 2008, the F&B Manager onboard the Celebrity Galaxy was actually Mario Markovic whilst Cory, which should be Koray Savas, was the Bar Manager.

Perry gave no hint of any absence except for March 2009 when he will not be onboard.

Do you happen to know Perry's last sailing date in early 2009 ? Several Family members are huge fans of his, and I am considering changing our sailing date (3/27) to see if we can sail while Perry is onboard. Any info is appreciated.

Thank you very much. March 27th works perfectly for us, but I know my folks will be disappointed if Perry isnt onboard. If you can find out if he will be onboard on 3/27, and if not, when is his last sailing on this contract, I would much appreciate it.

Hi Patty:

Captain Pagonis is home on holidays. He will be heading for Constellation at the end of November.
The Alternate Master is the captain that will replace the present Master when it is vacation time (3 months off and on) sometimes to a different ship.
I have never sailed with Captain Mavrogiannis. On what ship was he master?

I don't know what I was thinking. Not Mavrogiannis. (He was Chief Engineer on Zenith. Such a nice man. He is now on Journey.) I meant Karamounas, and I see he is on Galaxy now. He was Captain on Zenith for our last memorable cruise, I am sure you will remember.

We hope to sail on Connie in October/09. I guess our favorite Captain will be off then.

As to Second Master---does that mean the same as Captain?

The staff Captain on a ship is also a captain. The "Captain" who is in charge of the vessel is known as master of the vessel.
The alternating captain is the second master, normally in a three month rotation on the same ship.

That's great news ! Captain Mantzavinos told me that Cpt. Pagonis actually lives in Belgium when he's not on a ship. End of December we'll be on the Constellation, so I'm really looking forward to meet him.

I'm pretty sure the CD would not want to give his eMail contact on board to many people. He would be inundated with contacts. If you have ever emailed any cruise director on board you might be able to figure out his address. Have you tried Celebrity or the Captain's Club?

Indeed, we were also on the Galaxy in August and when we came onboard on 24 October, we were surprised to see so many new faces. Even the Captain changed, although in August Captain Karamaounas told us during dinner that we would see him again in October. Apparently sometimes the changes are unexpected. We were also invited by Captain Mantzavinos at his table and we had a nice and relaxed conversation with him. A very warm personality and a true gentleman.

How did you like the cruise?

We had an absolutely wonderful cruise and we felt a bit sad when we had to go home, since this was our 8th and last cruise on the Galaxy. It was our first cruise ship ever and we have such good memories about it.

John Howell is presently on the Azamara Quest and as far as I know, he's due to leave just before Christmas for his vacation period.
