Smile Buckets of beer...How much?

My hubby wants to know how much a bucket of beer costs now? On our last cruise, it was $12 for 4 beers.

We're just off Spirit two weeks ago. We paid $23 for a bucket of four.

Makes $12 seem like a bargain!

I just ordered rum on Bon Voyage. Wonder if you save much ordering a bucket of beer on BV?

They don't sell buckets of beer thru BC.

As my departed father always said to my Mom when she asked how much something cost , he would look at her and say I didn't ask I had to have it

Of course this pertained on matters on something of parts or pieces of equipment for the farm , but I have adopted the saying and use it today on my wife. and she looks at me after 30 years and

I see that your last cruise was quite some time ago! You can't even get 2 beers for $12.00 now!

You can order beer thru BV, but it is pointless. There is no savings. It costs the same as if you got them from one of the bars on board.

BV does not charge the %15 gratuity (or the optional buck or 2 on top of the bill tip).

But they may charge you sales tax.

Can you imagine $12 for 4 beers?

I had success a few years ago putting beer in coke 12 packs & resealing it and sending it through in a checked bag. I brought on 2 cases of Coor's Light. (My bar bill was still several hundred dollars!)

You're unlikely to get away with that anymore though. It must be in your carry-on and they are checking a lot more closely these days.

Last yr when we sailed out of galveston i believe they inspected our 12 pk of soda to make sure it was soda. If my memory is correct they checked the ends to make sure the 12 pk had not been tampered with.

Default Beer..ouch!

I love my beer and have one every night with dinner, a cruise and beer or rum go together so well. But..I agree, even 4 beers for 12 is crazy, I don't pay that at home and wouldn't anywhere else. Even at a restaurant around here, 4 for 12 is for a higher end micro. I suggest drinking in port, that is what I do as a beer lover. A bottle of rum from BV is in the cabin for on board drinks and beer in port. So many choices of unique beers to choose from in ports. On my up coming Legend cruise I get to choose: Caybrew beers, Belikins beers, Port Royal, Barena, Imperial, Negra Modela, Victoria, Sala Vida, etc.. and at times for a buck or 2 a pop!

Of course as a beer lover my trip in January is planned to hit:

Tampa: Cigar City Brewing Company and the Yuengling Beer Plant

Grand Cayman: CayBrew Tour

Belize: Belikin Brewery Tour

So ready for the tasting and tours

Big K

That is why you carefully open one end of the 12-pack, then use a hot glue gun to re-seal it. It has worked for me as recently as this past May.

For all you beer lovers I enjoyed the Red Frog on the Victory on recent cruise and if you buy it by the pitcher it figures to around $3.50 a beer for a 12 oz. draft beer. I would get one of the 20 oz and take it dinner it was $5.50? , with me each night enjoyed that robust flavor with some of the appetizers. They only serverd this in the sports bar but I saw several people getting pitchers and a few glasses and heading out , I can only assume to their balcony or the lido deck to enjoy it. Can't wait for my Liberty cruise when we can get it more readily.

I ordered beer from BV for my Carnival Pride cruise last January. I told them to have it delivered on the first sea day. Doing that exempts you from state tax. The price was the same as onboard but there's no tax or tip.

It was waiting in my stateroom on embarkation day anyway.

I had a friend cruise last month who has always done this, and they have started opening the box and checking.

But its served warm! Getting an ice cold bucket saves you 50 cents a beer or $2.00 total, but you do pay the 15% gratuity. Not much difference in the net price between BV or on board, and I prefer it cold.

Maybe we'll try this and if they open it and discover the beer I'll just say "Wow! I wonder how that got in there?"
