Formal Night(s) on Carnival Conquest...
I will be cruising in the Caribbean for 7 nights in November. How many formal nights (or "elegant evenings") will there be? What is the dress code for the formal nights? I'm hoping not to lug 2 suits for my husband and son, but rather they go in dress pants, shirt and tie. Will I be ok in a short dress or do I need a gown?

You'll be fine.
You see more dress pants and hawaiian shirts than you do suits and ties these days. And very few long gowns too.

7 day sailings have 2 formal nights
 DH wears a suit, & I always wear a gown, but a short formal dress will be just fine! Have a great time!!!

Wear whatever you are comfortable in. My husband and sons don't take suits anymore. They just wear shirt, tie & slacks. I wear nice sundress. You'll see everything. We were on Conquest in May and not one bit underdressed....

I bring one dress and wear it to dinner both nights and take it off the minute dinner is over.
suits are so much the same for men. I would not consider lugging 2 suits. Nice shirt and pants is enough, a tie is nice, coat not required.
