There are direct flights ( charters) direct to Cuba for those with proper licenses. We have flown twice out of Miami!

How easy-or difficult-is it to get the proper licenses? Costs involved? (I'm assuming you wouldn't want to get your passport stamped?) I've always wanted to go there. Thanks.

I would definetly consider it, sounds like it could be a fun cruise. But, it looks like a real micky mouse outfit. I don't give them a big chance of making it go.

Oh, so you don't buy any product that was made in China? Because you probably do and you are supporting a communist country that is a million times more of a threat to the United States, capitalism, and democracy than Cuba ever was or ever will be.

It may be a "third world" (PC = developing) country, but I hear it has some of the most beautiful beaches and country side in the Caribbean.

If the United States opened it's borders and allowed travel to Cuba, I would sincerely hope the major US cruise lines would start up Cuba cruises. I would do it in a heartbeat.

I would love to do a Cuba cruise, if the regulations ever loosen up. I've heard it is a beautiful coutry. But the Tropicana does not sound very appealing!

WOW – cruising CUBA, that is good news and for many, a dream come true for comparatively easy exploration of this intriguing atoll;

hopefully, TROPICANA CRUISES will become a success; or perhaps someone else will pick up on the notion and gets something viable together, ideally 2 nights in each port with plenty excursions offered for there is so much to see and do. Over land travel is still cumbersome when venturing on your own trying to explore the highlights and beyond. -

The emphasis may not necessarily be on catering to the traditional ‘cruising’ concept as much as on providing decent overnight accommodation / food with transport between ports without packing/unpacking. That could be a year-round, non stop, get on - get off service provided by an adequately sized CUBAN or elsewhere registered vessel at a reasonable price per day. The vessel(s) could operate in opposite directions on a train like schedule, like ships in Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, plying the Amazon river.

In addition to JAMAICA and HAVANA, operators should also look at DR and MEX ‘fly in’ embarkation ports, easily accessible from other Free World countries and where US Americans are allowed to travel to AND spend the ‘mighty’ American Dollar before it looses more of its declining value.

The CC article is dead wrong when it states nobody does Cuba.The Spanish line Quail Happy Cruises' inaugural voyage from Havana begins November 13th using the Gemini (former Superstar Gemini) a 20,000 ton 800 passenger ship, built in 1992 and refurbished in 2009 calling at Cozumel, where passengers can also board, Grand Cayman and Isla Paraiso. Passengers spend two nights on board in Havana. aaaand like RCI's Spanish line Pullmantur the cruises are all-inclusive as far as drinks are concerned. I'll maybe even send in a review of that first sailing.

My wife and I are off to Cuba with Fred Olsen's Braemar in December 2011. Two days in Havana plus stops at other Caribbean islands. As for the politics - I leave them at home with my other worries when I go cruising.

Anyone that says that they would not go to Cuba because of the Communist government is nothing but a hypocrite. Take a look around your own house and see how much you are supporting a communist country-China. A country with much worse and ongoing human rights issues.

Interesting concept. I'd really like to go, either on Tropicana or on some other operator.

What I'd like to see, though, are the end of the travel restrictions placed on US citizens and resident aliens wishing to visit Cuba. It's long past time to permanently do away with those restrictions.

I agree. We are long overdue. Consider that we lost over 50,000 of our young men in Viet Nam, not counting those that were injured or those that later died due to injuries. There are certainly cruises there, as well as trade with that country.

Just my thoughts.
