Default Penny Slots?

Ok, this is a very silly question. But I have never gambled before and I am interested in trying the penny slots. Do you use actual pennys, or do they some how put it on ur S&S card? And again Im sorry for asking such a silly question, I was just a bit confused (its been a LONG day!).

Not a silly question at all. I think that all the slots are now coinless - just swipe your S&S card.

You can use your sign-n-sail card or you can use dollar bills (1,5,10,etc.) Set your budget and I hope you have better luck than I did last time. LOL.

Someone working the casino will be happy to show you how to use your S&S card. It takes a few minutes to set up a password, but then you just use it as you play the slots. I limit myself to a certain amount of money per day in the casino, so that's all the cash I took. I would insert my card into a slot machine I wanted to play, then put (for example) a $20 bill into the machine. If I wanted to quit and go to another machine, I used the keypad (again, someone will show you how to do it the first time...very easy!) and had the balance of my $20 put onto my S&S card. At the next machine, I could draw on that balance or insert another bill.

Hope that helps.

No penny machines take pennies.......they will have multi denomination machines....so you can switch it to pennies to play pennies.......
They accept quarters and paper money.....or your S&S.

The only thing that takes coins is the quarter drop machine where you try to get your quarter to push money off the ledge. Lots of people blow their money one those. I have never had any luck.

The penny and nickle machine were there but still takes about 15 - 25 coins to play all the lines. I do what the other poster does and set a daily limit and try to stick to it. I actually did Ok and at least stayed in my budget!

By the way, I couldnt find a way to bet 1 cent in penny slots on the ship. It did some kind of bet X 8? or something, you had to bet either 8 or 16 cents, I think 16 cents each time I pulled the handle.

If there was a penny slot that bet 1 cent I couldnt find it. .. how is that a penny slot?

I admit to being the most naive gambler here.

Bottom line since I didnt know how to set up a account, if you have 15 cents left, you just lost it.

the penny slots have the worst % return on investment. In order to win a jackpot on the penny slots you have to bet the maximum amount, which turns out to be $2 to 3. The fifty cent and dollar machines have much higher %.

In 13 cruises, I've only hit one taxable or reportable jackpot for $3750.00, and that was on a quarter machine.

These machines pay when the ship is in rough water.
Nope. You're wrong. On all of the west coast ships, the quarter slot machines take quarters.

Sorry I'm not a gambler (yet) but I have a few questions ...
As I understand it Americans are required to report their winnings to the IRS but they can also report their losses to reduce the potential tax burden. Because of the IRS does Carnival do any withholding on casino winnings? I'm guessing that with their casino in international waters they aren't required. If there is any withholding do they just do it to Americans? Here in Canada we are not required to report casino or lottery winnings and can do paperwork to eventually get any US withholding returned to us.

Fire--If you can use an ATM you can set up an account. Have a slot attendant show you how. The directions are posted on each machine.

I've always been able to play one line/one credit (1c) on the multiline penny slots. It's usually my last penny and I'm too lazy to upload it.

Sounds like you were playing 8 lines. Really need to play all the lines for all the action.

I don't think this is a silly question at all. You can put money in with bills or by charging the amount to your S&S card. I haven't seen one that uses coins in a long time. My advice to you is to go into the casino and find a penny machine that catches your eye. It might be the pictures, sounds or whatever. (I personally like ones that have bonus rounds with free spins.) Then, ask one of the casino attendants to explain how to play that machine. Good luck, and I hope you have fun on your cruise!

A lot of the machines I have seen (the computerized ones, not the ones with the reels) offer the opportunity to bet 1 line, 1 credit per line, works with any denomination.
