I think the orthotic inside socks solution is great. You will just have to remove shoes like everyone else, but will have some support for your feet. Would a folding walking stick or cane be any help?

Of course weather varies from year to year. In 2011 we started in Hong Kong (warm), went to Xiamen (wore a sweater), and ended in Shanghai where we spent several days ( varied from cool to warm).
